Great Patio Ideas Come In All Sizes and Shapes

When it comes time for a great home refreshing idea, try a new patio. Great patio ideas come in all multitudes of sizes, shapes and designs. You can be as simple as you want or you can get very detailed and creative. Your patio can be right outside a set of French doors or it can be set around your pool or wind around your house. A patio can be made out of cement, brick, stone or wood or a combination of each one. Even the smallest of homes can have a beautiful patio for a very economical price.

Check the Neighborhood

If you aren’t quite sure what you exactly want in a patio check with your neighbors. Driving around your neighborhood and looking in backyards will give you wonderful patio ideas. Not only will you see what you like, you will find out what you do not want in a patio. People can get a little crazy with patio ideas, but there usually is a hidden agenda behind them.

You might find out how eccentric your neighbors really are by looking in their backyards. It is always a good idea to ask them to see their backyard before traipsing behind their home. You never know when a shotgun might appear or a man eating dog. If you do or do not know your neighbors, it is always productive to get their permission to wander into their backyard to get your patio ideas.

Make a Plan

When you have some patio ideas in mind it is good strategy to make a plan. Sketching your patio ideas will give you better insight as to what will fit with the workings of your backyard. You might need to relocate a bush here or there and always consider how much sunlight you get in the spot you want your patio in. Then is the time to decide if you will need a patio cover. Patio covers call for extra work and a different type of labor so be sure to consideration this when laying out your patio ideas.

When you have decided on which patio idea fits your home, check with your local hardware store and see if they have all of the components to make your patio. You might prefer to have a crew build your patio and in such an event several quotes will be necessary to get the best bang for your buck. Also check references very carefully because contractors are notorious for running off with your money or not finishing jobs. But many people feel they can build their own patio and this calls for careful planning and strategy. If you have construction experience, there should be no problem in building your new patio, but most people need to find a good book on building patios before they begin construction on their new patio.

Enjoy

Whether you build your own patio, or have someone build it for you remember the end result and how much you will enjoy it. It can be quite fun building your own patio and it can be quite fun to watch as someone creates your patio idea for you. But as you are sitting on the finished product with a glass of wine in your hand enjoying the twilight and fireflies, remember that it was worth the effort in finding the best patio idea to fit your home.

Setting Up An Outdoor Sauna

If you want to set up an outdoor sauna, there are some things you will need to consider before you start shopping.

You can buy an outdoor sauna kit constructed to withstand different weather elements.

Before you give thought to placing a sauna outdoors, you should check local building codes first. You might need to obtain a permit.

Now, here are some of the questions you should answer before you buy an outdoor sauna…

What’s your style?

There are many different designs and styles that you have to choose from…

For example, do you want a cabin look? Or maybe a barrel-shaped sauna?

Do you prefer a contemporary style?

How big do you need your sauna to be?

Will guests use it or just members in the household?

Do you want a shower and changing area attached?

You can buy a sauna that includes both.

These facilities will be extremely convenient if your sauna will be part of your entertainment plans.

If your sauna will be near a pool, you can even use it as a pool house.

In terms of the sauna heat source, you need to consider power sources.

For example, if electricity will be unavailable, you’ll need to have a wood sauna heater or gas heater instead of the more popular electric heater or infrared heaters.

Do you want the ability to have your sauna outside or inside?

You can buy a pre-built modular sauna kit that can be set up in or outside your house.

If you really want to add something special to your experiences, plan your sauna placement with the course of the sun and the moon in mind.

If you position your sauna correctly, through a window you may be able to catch the sun light if you take a sauna during the day and watch the moon light at night.

After everything is set up, an outdoor sauna could be an ‘escape’ without having to travel.

Family Sauna Kit - What to know before you buy one

A family sauna is a great place for family bonding and for relaxation. It’s no wonder that more and more families are installing saunas in their home.

Buying the right sauna requires knowing a few things first…

First of all, do you want an infrared sauna or traditional sauna? If you’re not sure about the difference, this is something you want to know before you purchase a family sauna kit.

Here are some other important things you’ll need to know to make the right choice…

What Size Do You Need?

This one is pretty obvious… Before you buy a family sauna kit, you need to know how many people your sauna needs to be able to hold.

2 to 4 people? 10 or more? Of course, you also have to know if the space you’re considering for your sauna will be big enough.

This leads us to…

Outside or Indoors?

If it’s indoors, you’ll need to know that the size of the sauna you want will fit the space you’re considering.

If you want to set up your sauna outdoors, you can assemble it in your front or back yard, patio, or poolside if you have a pool.

Before you consider outdoor placement, check your local building codes first. You may need to obtain a permit before you set up an outdoor sauna.

What Kind Of Kit?

This is something you’ll want to give some thought to…

There are pre-cut sauna kits and there are modular sauna kits.

So what’s the difference?

Pre-cut sauna kits include all the necessary components to assemble a full size sauna.

Pre-cut sauna kits cost less than modular sauna kits, but you’ll need to have some handyman skills or you’ll have to hire someone to assemble your sauna.

You’ll have to frame up your own walls and provide your own insulation.

Assembly instructions are included when you purchase, but you’ll still need some moderate carpentry skills or good aptitude for piecing things together.

Pre-built modular sauna kits are much easier to assemble than pre-cut kits, but they do cost more as a result.

In addition to being easy to assemble, an advantage they have over pre-cut kits is they’re easy to relocate. If you want to move your sauna to a different spot, piece of cake…

You simply have to detach the panels and then reattach them at the new location.

Pre-cut sauna kits don’t offer that kind of portability.
